StatusPartnership development

Kwajalein Atoll, like most of the Marshall Islands, depends heavily on imported diesel, and like every atoll it faces a growing waste problem. KalGov asked POL to help it find partners with the technology, experience and funding to change that.

The program

  • A KalGov delegation program covering battery storage manufacturing in California and meetings in Denmark with government, development and industry partners.
  • Letters of request and introductions to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, DANIDA, the European Commission’s energy directorate, and companies working in wind, engineering and waste-to-energy.
  • A coordinated agenda with State of Green, Denmark’s public-private partnership for green solutions, focused on renewable energy, sustainable waste management, education and exchange, and practical help with feasibility studies.

Why Denmark

Denmark has spent decades turning island and coastal communities into test beds for renewable energy and district heating, and it builds and operates waste-to-energy plants at scale. Many of those lessons translate to the Pacific. Others do not, and part of POL’s job is to tell the difference.

What comes next

The aim is a staged pathway: priorities agreed, feasibility studies scoped and funded, and long-term partnerships that leave skills and capacity on Kwajalein, not just equipment.
